An outing in Kin no Kura -Shibuya

Hello everyone ,

Preface :-
Living as a vegetarian in Japan could be really challenging. A country know for its sea food culture, you could get lost not only in translation but could also feel a little out of place when searching for vegetarian options here.
A good friend of mine called Karin, told me the other day that, she meets a lot of  Indian's who crib about not having veg options to eat in Japan. She asked me my option on the same, I told her such is not the case. Although I have an advantage of knowing the language, its my will to survive while staying with my Japanese friends that keeps me going. She strongly suggested me that I should be writing a blog and share my tips. I tried procrastinating, but she got better of me over a beer and now here it is.

 Kin no Kura dinner :-
So, Kin no Kura is this famous chain of Izakaya ( Japanese Style Pub ) that has lots of fan among the Japanese and Non-Japanese equally. If your a Salary Man in Tokyo , then you would have many such opportunities to go with your Japanese and Non-Japanese colleagues to Izakaya. And, If your a Vegetarian and don`t know Japanese and also have never been to Izakaya before,Then there are higher chances for you to go blank in such situations. However, some knowledge could help you choose things from the Menu . These days you also have the English menus in Izakaya's which is  equally helpful .
Below are a few tips you could order in your dinner .

Drinks
You have various options from Beer to Whiskey, but if your dont drink alcohol then, Orange Juice is always there. You can also try non alcohol beer.

Starters
a) Edamame beans
b) Macaroni Salad
c) Japanese style Salad
d) Sliced Tomatoes
e) Pancake (has hen`s egg)
f) Fried potatoes
g) Other Fried foods ( Potatoes with snowy cheese potatoes )

Main Course
Too bad , we have only one option for a main Course , but we at least have some thing to eat .And It is Margherita Pizza .

So, there is nothing like, "OMG ! I dont know what to order" etc. Since most of the Izakaya's have the same menu, you can choose any of these options at the table and enjoy your time with your colleagues and friends .

Thanks
